UHD-SDI in Kintex 7

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I'm trying to integrated the UHD-SDI LogiCore IP in Kintex 7 with 12GBit. According to XAPP1249 I created the GTX Wizard and the UHD-SDI wrapper but I can't find the files described in XAPP1249 (<component_name>_gt.v, <component_name>_cpll_railing.v, <component_name>_common.v and the SDI wrapper x7gtx_uhdsi_12g_8s_wrapper). I use Vivado 2015.1 and 2016.2. Where can I find these files and how do I implent these cores?

How can I create the video sync signals? It look likes that I have to do this in my own code.

Thank you for your help.

BR

Hi Martin,

There is no problem with the cores. In fact, they were in the tools a while ago (up until sometime in 2013 or so, if I recall). It was just decided to head in a different direction for this but the cores were popular enough that we still wanted to make them available.

I have used them myself and have seen lots of customers using them, so I know they work well.

That said, I've only seen them used with 3G SDI. Not sure if the UHD core will bolt up directly to it for all formats.

Hi Martin @msau,

The files you are looking for are in the Design Files folder (you can download this from the Xilinx website: link).

In these files, you should find an example about how to drive the the video sync signal.

Regards,

Florent

Hi Florent,

thank you for your fast answer. I found the files but I can't find any module which extracts the video sync (hsync, vsync, de) from the Rx Data. I need only the receiver module.

Hi Martin,

You're looking for these:
http://www.xilinx.com/products/intellectual-property/sdi_video_bridge.html

Otherwise, you have to extract syncs/blanks from the SDI core's interface.
