how to forward our MIPI 24-bit video_out bus to the VDMA for access by VCU.

Jump to solution

We are having trouble understanding how to forward our MIPI 24-bit video_out bus to the VDMA in such a way that the VCU core can access it.  We are using the ZCU106 board now.

Any resources to help us with this? The Xilinx reference guides exist, but they are very long, verbose, and don’t offer help when, for example, the petalinux image won’t boot because of something we hooked up wrong in the block design.

Concerning a related issue; in the ZC7035 part, we are able to pass our MIPI signals through the FPGA as well as drive the input SERDES.  In the case of the ZU+, this is apparently not allowed.  The pin must drive the SERDES with no other logic.  We would like to verify if this type of circuit is indeed not allowed and if not, how to do it the ZU+.  If we can’t pass through the MIPI signals, nothing comes up on our display, even though the video streaming might be working.

Hello @400garrison
If you are using ZCU106, perhaps you can use this VCU TRD as a start point.
( This design is using MIPI CSI-2 RX IP as a source for VCU )

Thank you for the quick response!  We are looking at a solution from NWLogic.
