What's Partgen?

Hi,

I'm beginner in FPGA control with verilog language.

In using MIG for make memory module, I needed ucf file for memory and downloaded some perl file.

I compiled this file in cmd and

"partgen -intstyle xflow -v xc5vlx220ff1660" command line automatically inserted.

But the command didn't be done.

cmd says

"Can't open PARTIGEN package file xc5vlx220ff1660.pkg

Package file not generated. Check if partgen path is set and correct part number specified. Exiting program !"

I don't know what's partgen and I think some program concerning about partgen is needed.

Help me please.

My Computer's OS is Window7

Re: What's Partgen?

Refer to chapter3 of http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx14_7/devref.pdf for details on partgen

The part number looks incorrect in the command. It should be xc5vlx220ff1760 instead of xc5vlx220ff1660.

Re: What's Partgen?

Hi @kbj1213

Have you installed ISE webpack edition?

Webpack edition does not support xc5vlx220ff1660 device. You need to install full edition to target this device.

Thanks,

Deepika.

Thanks,

Re: What's Partgen?

hi,

an easier way to figure out if the package file exists in the installation or not is to open a command prompt and run the below command.

partgen -arch virtex5.

looking at the results, it looks like 1760 is the package that you would want to target. do confirm

--hs
