virtex 5 csma

Hello everyone,

I wonder where is actually the CSMA/CD happen in Virtex 5 (ethernet)? In the user guide, its not really clear about the implementation of CSMA/CD in Virtex 5.

All your response is really appreciated.

Re: virtex 5 csma

Hi,

I'm not an ethernet expert, but I think the CSMA/CD-Handling happens in your PHY, not in V5. In V5, the MAC

-- or your design --  adds neccessary PAD bytes into the ethernet frame to allow the PHY to do it's job (the

CSMA/CD handling). The collision signal is the only information for you about a possible collision.
