How to rescue Platform Cable USB II after failed firmware update ?

I Tried to update the platform cable II firmware via impact (14.4), but it failed (impact crashed) and now the platform cable is no longer recognized by impact. The LED is completely off. How can I rescue the cable? Even if I try to update the firmware again with the "SET XIL_IMPACT_ENV_USB2_FORCE_CPLD_UPDATE=TRUE" evironment variable, I cannot connect to the cable.

Impact says:

Connecting to cable (Usb Port - USB21).
Checking cable driver.
 Driver file xusb_emb.sys found.
 Driver version: src=1029, dest=1029.
 Driver windrvr6.sys version = 10.2.1.0. WinDriver v10.21 Jungo (c) 1997 - 2010
Build Date: Aug 31 2010 x86_64 64bit SYS
14:14:44, version = 1021.
 Cable PID = 0008.
Max current requested during enumeration is 300 mA.
Type = 0x0005.
write (count, cmdBuffer, dataBuffer) failed C0000004.
 Cable Type = 3, Revision = 0.
Setting cable speed to 6 MHz.
write cmdbuffer failed 20000015.
Error reading reference voltage level.
Cable connection failed.

I was able to solder flying wires on the XCF02S inside the cable and read out the PROM, but it´s empty.

Is there a way to reprogram the prom with one of the *.fmwr files inside the ISE/data directory?
