Platform Cable USB II LED Blink with Hardware Manager

Hi,

The Impact tool has a feature to identify a unique Platform Cables when many are attached to a single host. DS593 refers to this in a topic section, "Multiple USB Cable Management". When a specific pod is being addressed, the Status LED blinks. Does anyone know if this capability has been ported to the Vivado Hardware Manager?

Thanks.

Hello @richkeefe,

Unfortunately that feature is no available in Vivado.

What I believe can help you is knowing the serial number of each Platform cable. Once you connect to HW Manager, the long number under target is the cable serial number. That number will never change.

As an example, in the image below, my Platform Cable SN is 0000100aaae401.

So my suggestion is that you take note of the SN of each cable (realistically, you can even use the last 3 or 4 numbers, like e401 in my case), and put it as a tag on top of each Platform Cable box.

Then, once you have all the four cables connected simultaneously, you can go on the tcl console and issue the following command:

current_hw_target

it will answer with the JTAG chain address, as follows:

localhost:3121/xilinx_tcf/Xilinx/0000100aaae401

That way, you will be able to know which cable is connected to your Vivado instance or board.
