Sundance, the company that inserted the Xilinx Zynq-7000 SoC and Artix-7 FPGA into its stackable PCe/104 OneBank board universe, has now inserted a Kintex UltraScale FPGA into that universe. The company’s EMC2-KU35 is a small module with an on-board Kintex UltraScale KU035 FPGA and two banks of 16-bit DDR4 SDRAM, each with nearly 2Gbytes/sec of memory bandwidth. This board is well suited to hardware development for advanced computational requirements. According to Flemming Christensen, Sundance’s Managing Director, the Kintex UltraScale KU035 FPGA on the EMC2-KU35 board “provides a magnitude more performance” compared to the company’s earlier offerings.

The Sundance EMC2-KU35 board consists of a Trenz Electronic TE0841 Kintex UltraScale FPGA module plugged into a Sundance EMC2-DP OneBank Carrier board for SoC Modules. This modular construction allows Sundance to rapidly adapt new Xilinx All Programmable devices to the PCIe/104 form factor.

PCIe/104 Boards in Sundance’s EMC2 family are designed to the latest, yet long-established, PC/104 small-form-factor 90mm by 96mm boards called “OneBank.” Using PCIe switches, the PCIe/104 standard allows an “infinite” number of boards to be stacked for very demanding applications.
