The Ethernet steamroller is now on Industrial Automation Road. See it at Embedded World 2015

One thing that Industrial Automation has in abundance is networking standards—many, many incompatible standards. As it has in so many industries, Ethernet is poised to bring order out of this chaos—eventually. You can see why later this month when you’ll find two Zynq-based Industrial Ethernet demos in the Xilinx booth at Embedded World 2015 in Nuremberg, Germany:

 

  • Xilinx Alliance Member SOC-e will demonstrate reliable and fault-tolerant Ethernet communications specifically for energy market applications using the company’s High-Availability Seamless Redundancy Protocol and Parallel Redundancy Protocol (HSR/PRP) core and its IEEE 1588 precision-timing core. The company’s PreciseTimeBasic Zynq Edition is an IEEE 1588-2008 compliant clock synchronization IP core capable of accurately timestamping IEEE 1588 frames with nanosecond resolution resulting in sub-microsecond synchronization capability. You can’t do this using software alone. You need the high-performance programmable logic in the Xilinx Zynq SoC to get the needed speed.
