$1000 bounty! The Open Camera Projects wants you to marry Raspberry Pi Camera, Zynq, Parallella

One-man juggernaut Andreas Olofsson, the man behind Adapteva’s many-core Epiphany parallel processing chip and the Zynq-based Parallella supercomputer board, knows how to get things done: offer cold, hard cash. One of the many things Olofsson wants to see done with the Parallella board is image and vision processing and he’s come up with a rather simple way to get the hardware and drivers he needs to make that happen.

 

He’s offering you $1000 to come up with a way to connect the inexpensive Raspberry Pi Camera Module (single-unit price is $25 at Allied Electronics in the US with 2635 units in stock at the moment, or order it on Amazon.com) to the Parallella board and to create the drivers needed to turn Parallella into a vision-processing machine. To do this, you’ll need to connect the 5Mpixel camera module to the Parallella board’s Zynq SoC via its MIPI interface.
