Creating a boot.bin file for KCU116

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using KCU116 evaluation board for a project. The project utilises the FPGA fabric (PL side) but has no processor instance(PS side).

Currently I program the fpga through JTAG but have to re-program it everytime I do a power-cycle. I wanted to know if there is a way I can create a boot.bin file and boot it up through SD card? I'm not sure if its possible due to lack of processor instance in the design. Is there a work around for this?

If not, how do I program the Quad SPI memory to save the bitstream and avoid regular programming of FPGA on power cycle?

Thank you

Hello,

That's right!
You need to program the QSPI memory.

Please refer Chapter 6 of UG908 for conversion to programming data for QSPI and programming method.

The KCU116 has an 8-bit bus width configuration in which two QSPI memories are connected in parallel.
Please refer User Guid UG1239.

Thanks,

Yoichi
