I got an error 17-1373, how do i solve this?

Jump to solution

I have this kind of error message:

  • [Common 17-1373] The path length of the Xilinx temporary directory (C:/Users/zaina/OneDrive/skole opgaver/Universitet SDU Robotteknologi/4. Semester/Digital Programmerbar Elektronik/Lektion 2 - Kobinatoriske logik/Komigang eksempel - del 2/komigang_del2/komigang_del2.runs/synth_1/.Xil/Vivado-13252-DESKTOP-3ESB99P) is too long for Windows. Please use the -tempDir command line switch to specify an alternate location. See Answer Record AR52787 for more information.

Can someone solve this?

Hi @zaahm18 ,

Actually, you are living a common problem about Windows.

As described in your error message, there are some abilities to solve your issue.

Problem is:

The error is due to a Windows OS limitation. Windows has a 260 character limit on the maximum length for a path (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/windows/desktop/aa365247(v=vs.85).aspx#maxpath).

Due to this limitation, if the path length is more than 260 characters, Vivado Design Suite and its subsidiary tools might fail.

The error is most often seen when generating IP cores and archiving, due to the deep hierarchical structure of some of the IP (For example see (Xilinx Answer 51997)) and because the Archive function requires every path in a project to be accessed.

You need to locate your project near to root folder(C:/Project), it can not contain white spaces...

Regards

Hi @zaahm18

Don't use space character and non-alphabet character on directory path, too !

Hi @zaahm18 ,

Maybe you need to enable long file name support, like that.

Regards

Hi

I do not believe long file name support is tested for vivado.

The way to solve this is to map a drive to C:/Users/zaina/OneDrive/skole opgaver/Universitet SDU Robotteknologi/4. Semester/Digital Programmerbar Elektronik/Lektion 2 - Kobinatoriske logik/Komigang eksempel - del 2 let say U: (for User)

This way your project will be under U:/komigang_del2

Not issue with path length or not supported characters in the path
