KC705 power issue

Jump to solution

hi:

I have designed a board based on the Kintex7 FPGA,most schematic are copy the KC705 board. When I powered up the KC705 board,I can read the whole rail of the power from the Fusion Digital Power Designer, and it all works good. When I powered the board I designed, the software of Fusion Digital Power Designer can find the three UCD9248,but displays a window that Devices with no rail.So I can not configure the power and write it to flash. Please give me the reason.Thank you very much.

@lhzh7 --- mentioned that -->  Fusion Digital Power Designer can find the three UCD9248,

The following Answer Record (AR) https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/37561.html  helps to find out how to interface  with the UCD9240 controller on your board. Please check.

The following AR https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/56811.html  give details how to reprogram the TI power controllers on KC705 board to the factory defaults. The information may help you to understand procedures.

If you need further help and training about the usage of UCD9248 please contact TI support through the following link http://www.ti.com/product/UCD9248/support

There might be some power or circuit connections problem. Also the power module image should be as per custom board load requirements.  Please check all those points.

Please note that Xilinx evaluation  boards meant for evaluating/demonstration FPGA functionality and training purpose.  But copying evaluation board design to custom board is not good idea.

I recommend to design custom board as per application requirement by referring respective device data sheets and user guides.

@lhzh7 If the GUI is able to find the 3 UCD9248 devices, then looks like I2C connectivity is fine.

Try checking software version or use a newer version and see if it helps.

Ideally, you would be better off asking this query to TI than here as the GUI and the UCD device are their products.

Are there any schematic differences in the power supply? Like some other members mentioned, you should contact TI, as the issue seems to pertain to their device, and or communicating with it. They might be able to help at root causing the problem.
