Question for VCU 108 sma ports usage

Jump to solution

We have question when we use SMA cable using vcu 108 board.

Here is the question.

1. VCU108 borad has two sma ports for clock. Is it possible to use those port as aurora tx, rx channel not clock ?

2. If two sma ports are used only for GT clock, we are considering used of bullseye cable.

Is it possible bullseye cable can be connected the other bullseye cable for chip to chip interface ?

3. If second question is No, do you have any board or card for FMC to SMA ports?

thank you.

1. I believe you are referring to J34 & J35. They connect to Bank 67 which is not a GT bank.

2. The SMA connector is not a GT clock. The Bullseye cable connects to Bank 126 GTY Bank and has Clk and 4 data lanes. You can use the Bulleye cable from this board to another for using Aurora

3.  If you want to use GTH Banks which connect to FMC, you can use FMC - SMA breakout boards. There should be a few avaulable in market. Like this one https://www.xilinx.com/products/boards-and-kits/1-3y8uv1.html
