SP601 - Spartan-6 Ibis model - DDR2 SI Simulation

Jump to solution

Hi, I'd like to do some simulation of SP601 and I would like to get the Spartan-6 Ibis file for SP601 board to learn how to test DDR2 signal Integrity channels. I tried to generate it from a MCB core in ISE but I think I do not have a correct/complete pin planning. I'm pcb designer and not really into the ISE thing...

Thanks for help.

Hi,

You are correct - there is a tool to create an ibis file that is specific to a particular design.  This tool is called IBISWriter.  There is no "ready-made" file you can download, but if you take a look at the documentation on IBISWriter (http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx13_1/devref.pdf, Chapter 18, from page 265) you will find the steps involved in taking in an ncd file and generating the corresponding .ibs file.

we have IBIS models for our devices on the Xilinx Download Center

http://www.xilinx.com/support/download/index.htm

It's under the section entitled "Device Models"

I downloaded the Spartan6 Ibis model, but this is a general and uncomplete model that is just a reference for generating a particular Ibis model. It seems ISE allows to generate the IBIS model particular to each implementation,  from a . ncd file.

Can I download one of them from any link?

Thx.

I've taken spartan-6 ibis file from ISE installed location. But there is something really wrong with it. It's not  normal IBIS ASCII file and you can not look through it by tools like notepad++ or others. It looks exactly like a binary file.  Whats wrong with this file?

Please someone attach the right ibis file for spartan-6
