VCU 118 Vivado Lab Not Working

Jump to solution

Hello,

After searching through the forums, I haven't quite found what I am looking for.

I have a VCU118 UltraScale+ Evaluation kit and I am trying to use Vivado_Lab to program it.

I made sure to do the following:

  • The board is on
  • I swapped 4 different cables
  • I used different USB ports on the computer, including USB2 and 3
  • I re-installed the Digilent drivers
  • The SCUI claims it can talk to the board and read settings from it

I get the following error:

ERROR: [Labtools 27-2269] No devices detected on target localhost:3121/xilinx_tcf/Digilent/210308A62C56.
Check cable connectivity and that the target board is powered up then
use the disconnect_hw_server and connect_hw_server to re-register this hardware target.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Thank you for any help.

Try to reinstall cable drivers and reboot. Make sure you only have one board connected while you are having trouble. Don't use a hub. Try all the different usb ports on your computer.

Hello @bluebird

Did you tried programming VCU118 on any other PC/Laptop?

Kindly go through AR#69737  Virtex UltraScale+ FPGA VCU118 Evaluation Kit board debug checklist.

Check for Switch / Jumper Settings, Board Power- ON LED's. If you see any abnormalities, please provide details.

Provide screenshot of Vivado hardware manager while configuring FPGA and share complete Vivado log

Regards,
Bhushan

Turns out my FMC peripheral board was causing Vivado to not recognize the target. Once that was removed, Vivado was running smoothly.

Yes. That should be checked while connecting the FMC card. You can read more details on page#40-41 of VCU118 user guide. https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/boards_and_kits/vcu118/ug1224-vcu118-eval-bd.pdf

Switch u26 adds an attached FMC card to the FPGA JTAG chain.

Hope it helps.
