VCU118 compatible motherboard

Jump to solution

I am planning on using the VCU118 board for our design evaluation. Is there any specific requirement/guidelines from Xilinx for motherboards that would be compatible with the kit? I am trying to avoid a situation where we order a server and VCU118 is not detected (or any other problems). Is there any document which lists the types of moterboards the VCU118 is tested with. Any reommendations/dos/donts from Xilinx would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello @sachinb_apt1

There are no special recommendations for VCU118 PCIe host machine.

You should refer to page number 17 mentioned in UG1224 before installing the card in any host machine.

That should help.

Re: VCU118 compatible motherboard

Hi @kvasantr @cbalakr Can anyone tell if there is any default bitstream already programmed in the VCU118 board? I mean as soon as i plug the board, is there a way to check if the board is detected using lspci after warm reboot. Assuming i dont have a bitstream of my own to program the FPGA.

Quick reply is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @sachinb_apt1

No, there will be no bitstream programmed that can default detect PCIe in host machine.

you will need to program design which has PCIe initialization.

Refer XTP444 from VCU118 product page for PCIe initialization.

Thank you.
