XUP V2P and non digilent supplied memory

Not wanting to spend ~$70 on 512-mb ram from Digilent with my new XUP-V2P (for academic use), I purchased a stick of single rank (thats when it's only on one side, correct?) 512-mb corsair value select ram- for which corsair says they do not ofer data sheets.

Can anyone tell me if I'll be able to use it with the XUP-V2P? I don't see any reason why not, but I'm very new at this.

Lastly, can someone point me to a tutorial in how to do this in VHDL or Verilog (no PPC or microblaze)?

I'd like to understand how to access that memory.

Thanks!
