ZCU111 - System Controller GUI doesn't work

Jump to solution

Hi,
I started using a ZCU111 board. First, it passed the built-in self-test. Then I tried out System Controller GUI. However the GUI software doesn't work on my Windows 10 PC. Board serial number was detected correctly in the pull-down menu. But the GUI doesn't really perform any functions by pushing buttons. The button is grayed out after pushing .

Looking at log file at C:\zcu111_bit\BoardUI\tests\ZCU111\logs, it seems like an internal error on the software.
ZCU111_*******.txt:

Any ideas to resolve the issue?

Thank you,

Hi @anatoli,

Thank you for the information.

I checked serial ports on the PC and found that unicode characters are included in the COM1 port description.

I experimentally *uninstalled* the COM1 device. Then the controller GUI works fine. So uninstalling the COM device could be a workaround.
But I hope the issue will be resolved by future update of the GUI software.

Thank you!

Hi @yfuji38

Typically, this error occurs when OS is not supported.

Supported version for latest Vivado version is Windows 10.0 Fall Creators update (version 1709), 10.0 Version 1803 (64-bit), English/Japanese. Refer link below, page 11:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx2018_2/ug973-vivado-release-notes-install-license.pdf

Try SCUI in supported operating system.

Regards,

Bhushan

Hi @bpatil,

Thanks for your reply.
I am using Windows 10 Pro version 1803. It is:

Just in case, I tried out again after,
- Uninstalled another Python application.
- Installed Vivado 2018.2
But there are the same errors in the log file...

Can you click on Layout and uncheck hide right pane? use a command like read Si570 MGT clock. Take a screencap including the right pane that is now unhidden.

My system controller dosen't work with the same error.

1. OS Update
2. Firmware Update
3. UART Device driver version down

I have tried this, but it does not work.

Have you been resolved?

Please let me know if the issue is resolved.

In my case, I did not find the cause, but it works on two out of six computers.
Try on another computer.

Hello @yfuji38 and other users on this thread,

We may found the root cause of this behaviour (thanks to @suguri ).

Please check @suguri 's reply in the similar forum topic: https://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Xilinx-Evaluation-Boards/zcu102-BoardUI-Error/m-p/1127099/highlight/true#M28597

Can you please check and see if this also helps in your case? Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,
