anyone ported XAPP1082 pl_eth_sfp design from ZC706 to Mini-ITX?

Jump to solution

We have both the ZC706 and Mini-ITX dev kits. We got the pl_eth_sfp reference design running on the ZC706 no problem, and was able to update the design from 2014.4 to 2015.2 no problem. Tried porting the design to the Mini-ITX (to free up the ZC706 for other work) and I'm confident I made all of the necessary pin changes for the 125MHz clock and the SFP_RX and SFP_TX pins. But there are some other differences at the SFP module that it's not clear to me how to deal with. The pins in question are pins 4-9 on the SFP.

By the way, we're using the 378928-B21 SFP Module called for in the XAPP1082 README.TXT file. Can't get the design to run on the Mini-ITX. Software hangs as soon as it tries to access the interface.

Thanks,

Bob

Posting back to report that the pl_eth_sfp reference design runs fine on the Mini-ITX (once the pin assignments are changed as needed, and the PS DDR3 memory setup is slightly different). The problem once again was that the software person did not have the FCLKs enabled to the PL. We've been through this numerous times now where the FCLKs are enabled in the BD and that gets passed through to the FSBL, but when linux boots the kernel turns the clocks off. Once we got the clocks enabled the Ethernet port worked fine. So the SFP differences between the ZC706 and Mini-ITX were not an issue.
