configuring sp605 FPGA with ISE webpack edition

I have following questions regarding sp605 evaluation kit

1) i have sp605 spartan 6 evaluation board but i do not posses the license . Is it possible for me to configure the fpga using the impact tool freely available with the ISE webpack.

(i hav all the cables, drivers ,docs etc that came along with the board just not the license )

i am starting with a simple led counter on the board.

2) is it possible to configure the FPGA with the sandisk CF card removed from the slot?

3) I had bought the SP605 evaluation kit two years ago through AVNET but could not get the license. Is it possible for me to get the license for the designsuite now (ISE design suite 11.2).

Re: configuring sp605 FPGA with ISE webpack edition

Hi sskhati,

1) The SP605 has the Spartan-6 LX45T-FGG484 device on board.  This device is supported by ISE Webpack (http://www.xilinx.com/publications/matrix/Software_matrix.pdf) so you can target this device in ISE, create a bit file for that FPGA and configure it in iMPACT.

2) Yes, it is possible to configure the FPGA with the CF card removed, however you would need to take care of the mode pin settings and make sure that S1 (CF CompactFlash Image Select DIP Switch) is set appropriately.  See UG526 for more info: http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/boards_and_kits/ug526.pdf

3) Was there a particular reason why you could not get the license through AVNET 2 years ago?  Firstly I would follow up with them, and if that does not yield results, open a Webcase with Technical Support and a licensing expert will have more info for you: http://www.xilinx.com/support/clearexpress/websupport.htm

Don’t forget to reply, kudo, and accept as solution.
