connecting a zcu106 to a dell server

Is it possible to connect a ZCU106 board to a dell server and to access remotely from a laptop through ssh and distant display (Gigabit network) ?

More precisely, the zcu106 board and the laptop are placed in one office, the server is placed in a different room. A pair of usb-rj45 extenders are used to connect the zcu board to the server. Vivado is installed on the server running ubuntu 16.04.

The laptop connects to the server via ssh and runs vivado.

Would such an installation work ?

Re: connecting a zcu106 to a dell server

It depends on what exactly you need to do. If you just need program and communicate with the board over jtag, you can do that by setting up a remote server with vivado. You might just try to figure out how to remote desktop to the machine you need. There are options like the smartlynq cable that also do this type of remote hw server configuration for you.

Re: connecting a zcu106 to a dell server

Thank you for your answer. Here are some precisions on our wished installation and needs.

Server room: server running ubuntu 16.04, two adapter cables plugged into the server usb ports and two RJ45 cables connecting the usb outputs to RJ45 sockets (usb extension via ethernet).

Laptop room:

-ZCU106 board connected to power and to server usb inputs extended from RJ45.

-laptop running ubuntu 16.04 and connected to ethernet.

Needs:

Run Vivado and SDK on the server from the laptop via ssh and send an IP to the board's FPGA through the JTAG link.

Run a terminal (displayed on the laptop but running on the server within the ssh session) connected to the server ttyUSB device and receiving the PFGA results through the usb link.

Am I precise enough ?

bg.
