problem with SPI flash in KCU116

Jump to solution

I was trying to use the SPI flash to store my bitstream. I used CONFIGRATE 16 and BUSWIDTH 4 as parameters.

So after programming the flash, and pressing the "prog" button, the FPGA gets programmed. if I  just switch off the on the board, nothing happen.

I tried to lower down the CONFIGRATE to 3, the to 33, always same behavior.

I also tried buswidth 1 and same behavior.

My board is REV A, could it be defective (power problem at startup) ?

Hi @wmansour

So pulsing Prog_b works whereas powering ON the board does not configure the FPGA ?

Have you ensured JTAG is disconnected at Power ON to rule out its not JTAG conflicting at power w\ON with SPI ?

Can you  try reprogramming the Power controllers on KCU116 as described  in AR# https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/69856.html

Hi @gurupra

I disconnected the JTAG cable and it worked. Is it how it is designed?

Hi @wmansour

JTAG takes a precedence to other modes.
