Question about the influence of memory size on power consumption while reading or writing the memory

Jump to solution

I want to do some modification on my design. It will separate a memory into two smaller memory. The total size of this two memories is just 56% of the original. But the total number of accessing memory will increase. I need to evaluate if the power consumption less than the original.

Can anyone give me some suggestion or guidance?  Thanks!

Are you talking about a Xilinx BRAM or an external memory?

If you are talking about a Xilinx BRAM, you could estimate the power comsuption in XPE.

If you are talking about an external memory, you should probably contact the memory vendor. Below is a link of power calculation tool in Micron site

Thanks for zeusgone.

But, is it a only way? Can use some method to analyze it instead of using this tool?

Thanks!
