Boot-up failure; stuck at PMUFW

Jump to solution

Hi:

I am bringing up a ZCU19EG board. Currently, the configuration is set such that the boot-mode is QSPI. Kernel is taken from SD card. Everything was working fine.

However, about a couple of days ago, the board rebooted automatically and stuck at PMUFW. On power cycling the board or rebooting it, makes it do the same. (Start FSBL >> Get stuck at PMUFW).

Moreover, I tried to program the PL of Zynq with Vivado and the JTAG won't connect to the PL.
Log from Vivado Hardware manager:

I tried flashing the QSPI with JTAG (while the board still in QSPI mode). I got the following log:

Please help me understand how is JTAG disabled in the board? Is there a setting/bit set which closes the PL TAP/JTAG connection of Zynq?

Thanks.

Hi @shantan1

In Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSOC reset is generated by the two reset controllers; one for each of the power domains (LPD and FPD). The primary device-level reset inputs are from the PS_POR_B and PS_SRST_B device pin, which must be asserted and deasserted based on specific conditions. The operation of the reset unit requires the PS_REF_CLK to be active.

Check  UG1085 (v1.8) (Page 1124~1125) for more information

Check PS_REF_CLK status on your board.

Regards,

Bhushan

Hi @shantan1

I'm not sure. But it seems power lane issue.

Would you make sure power lane on FPGA ?

Almost all POR_B issue is caused by power lane problem.

Best regards,

Solved the problem. Zynq was held in reset by another circuitry. Since the architecture is confidential to my company, I cannot reveal the low-level details, I apologize. However, it was the problem with external resets certainly.
