Coeffiicients too large for FIR Compiler in System Generator

Hi everyone,

I am new to system generator; I have a coefficient array that is too large for the FIR Compiler. I thought of only using a part of it but couldn’t find any way in system generator to do this. Someone please help me whether there is a method to take a small of the coefficients and use it in FIR Compiler?

I’ll be grateful.

Thank you

To help answer your question, can you please tell me how many taps your algorithm needs, how many bits you need in these taps, and what the sample rate is that you are attempting to work with?

Re: Coeffiicients too large for FIR Compiler in System Generator

You may need to cascade your FIR filters to get down to the desired output freqency you are looking for.  If you need to go from 100 MHz to 192KHz, lets say, you likely will not be able to put as many taps into the tools as the FIR calls for.  However, if you can go from 100MHz down to, say, 17MHz, then down to 1.3 MHz, then down to 192 KHz, each FIR will need less taps, and thus less coefficients.

Note: those frequency numbers are completely arbitrary.
