dpu driver can't be installed on zcu102

Jump to solution

I am running install.sh on zcu102 board:
xlnx_dnndk_v3.0_190624/xilinx_dnndk_v3.0/ZCU102# ./install.sh

the log is :

Install DPU Driver ...
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'dpu': Exec format error
Installation failed!

--------------------------------

a) I have checked the version of DNNDK and ZCU102. they are:

xlnx_dnndk_v3.0_190624.tar.gz
xilinx-zcu102-prod-dpu1.4-2018.3-desktop-buster-2019-04-24.img.zip

They MD5 are also right.

b) run insmod dpu.ko in ZCU102/pkgs/driver, the report:

insmod: ERROR: could not insert module dpu.ko: Invalid module format

c) add -c after modprobe dpu in install.sh, then report:

modprobe_c.jpg

d) uname -n: zcu102

e) uname -a: Linux zcu102 4.9.0+ #1 SMP Tue Dec 4 10:59:11 CST 2018 aarch64 GNU/Linux

f) modinfo dpu.ko:vermagic: 4.14.0-xilinx-v2018.3 SMP mod_unload aarch64

How to solve this problem? Thanks!

Hi @hdli,
As I understand it the current board images have reduced the number of lanes used for DisplayPort due to some image flickering when running some of the demos. That said, those board images do not support all of the resolutions previously supported by the DNNDK v2.08/DPU v1.3.0 board images. In the next release, I believe support will be added back in for all of the resolutions.
You can also use the following to change the resolution via command line.
In order to inspect the available resolutions:
xrandr
In order to change the resolution:
export DISPLAY=:0.0
xrandr --output DP-1 --mode 1024x768
Thanks and hope this helps,
-JC
