Vivado 2017/2018 Max CPU Cores

I am looking to speed up my vivado projects and wanted to know the max cpu cores that vivado can utilize in the following tasks:

                [ Simulation / Systesis / Implemenation ]

for Vivado versions 2017 - 2018.

Also does vivado support two processors in the same PC?

Re: Vivado 2017/2018 Max CPU Cores

Hi @afgarrido

The default number of cores used will be 4.

You can override this parameter by :

set_param general.maxThreads <new limit>

For implementation check page no.7:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx2018_3/ug904-vivado-implementation.pdf

For synthesis check page no.37:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx2018_3/ug901-vivado-synthesis.pdf

For simulation check pag no.206:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx2018_3/ug900-vivado-logic-simulation.pdf

Thanks,

Raj

Re: Vivado 2017/2018 Max CPU Cores

I see that 8 threads is the max setting for running implementation in parallel.  If I have a 24 core processor vs a 8 core processors will the implementation speed up by 3x?
