[Inquiry] Help finding updated documentation

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is an updated version of this "Device Driver Programmer Guide" ?

The "xilinx_drivers_guide.pdf" document located here:

https://forums.xilinx.com/xlnx/attachments/xlnx/NewUser/23544/1/xilinx_drivers_guide.pdf

v1.4 is dated June 22, 2007.

Any help or clarification ( if this is indeed the latest revision of this document ) would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Conor

Hi @svc_conor,

You can refer to a below wiki page to clear your queries regarding the latest version of drivers.

https://xilinx-wiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/A/pages/18841873/Linux+Drivers

https://xilinx-wiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/A/overview

meanwhile I will check with our documentation team for the latest version of this PD.

Thanks & Regrads,

Shubhangi

Hi Shubhangi,

Thank you for your reply and inquiry to internal Xilinx documentation team.

I am only inquiring to the coding style documentation for Bare Metal drivers.

Not the Linux drivers, which follows a kernel.org standard coding style: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/process/coding-style.html

I will eagerly await the response from your documentation team!

Thank you,

Conor

Hi @svc_conor,

May I know which tool and silicon device you are using for your development based on that I can share the latest document with you.

Device driver programmer guide v1.4 is very older and has been discontinued.

Thanks & Regards,

Shubhangi

Hi @smahalle,

I am using the Xilinx ZCU104 development board.

I am interested in the latest documentation which explains the bare-metal driver coding style for all "baremetal drivers"  including naming scheme and driver design rationale.

for example: xiicps_hw.h where we know that "_hw" implies that this is the "hardware" header file which describes all of the hardware device's register definitions.

To clarify what I'm asking for:

There should be some internal xilinx document which explains to the xilinx developer team -- the rules and methodology that you guys used while you were designing these xilinx bare metal drivers. https://github.com/Xilinx/embeddedsw/tree/master/XilinxProcessorIPLib/drivers

I would like to have "this document" in order to gain a deep understanding of the design of these drivers, so that I can properly read and interpret them on my side.

Thank you!

Conor

Hi,

Is Xilinx now using the term "Standalone" instead of "Bare Metal" to refer to software libraries and Xilinx built-in peripheral -- device drivers which are intended to run without an underlying operating system ?
