MTU size and Jumbo frames: howto speed up the ethernet interface

Hi all!

I'm running the XILKERNEL with LwIP on FPGA with a PowerPC and a TEMAC core. How can I change the MTU size of the ethernet interface? What do I have to do to use Jumbo frames? I'm not getting much more than 250kbytes/s of transfer speed. Any ideas on howto enhance the ethernet interface speed? I would use the DMA feature of the TEMAC core, but doing so makes my FPGA reach its limits.

Best regards,

Hi all,

Haven't managed to change the MTU frame size or use the JUMBO frame feature, but enabling the data and instructuion cache gave a real important speed up.

Best regards,

Thats real good LwIP is free for a reason.

I noticed that Xilinx may have optimized LwIP in 9.2 are you using 9.2 or 9.1.

Best performace is TRECK
ie Scatter Gather DMA, checksum off loading
I never tried jumbo frames using LwIP
