Hi,

an IP core, named xps_tft, is included in EDK. You can have a look at the user guide of the ML403 or Spartan-3AN Starter Kit to find how to interface an external DAC or simply use external resistors. An open-source core can be found at www.opencores.org; look for VGA/LCD controller.

Here's another good resource.  It gives you the pixel clock

counts for timing of various VESA standard.  It also lets

you calculate custom timing based on your own parameters
