Getting error "unrecognized jedec id fffff"

Hi All,

I'm trying to validate quad-SPI PL on zynq 770 board using linux. For this I'm using spi-xlinx.c driver for QSPI and m25p80.c for mtd flash.After generating the system.bit and dts, when i try to boot kernel then get following error in flash driver

Logs of kernel boot-

xilinx_spi 40020000.spi: registered master spi32766 (dynamic)

xilinx_spi 40020000.spi: master is unqueued, this is deprecated

spi spi32766.0: setup mode 0, 8 bits/w, 50000000 Hz max --> 0

m25p80 spi32766.0: unrecognized JEDEC id ffffff

xilinx_spi 40020000.spi: registered child spi32766.0

xilinx_spi 40020000.spi: at 0x40020000 mapped to 0xf0080000, irq=87

DTS file entry-

                                                                };

                                                };

                                } ;

Do anyone know why flash driver is not able to read correct JEDEC ID from flash?

Re: Getting error "unrecognized jedec id fffff"

What is a 770 board?

I know about the zc702, the zc706, and the Zed board.

And, for all Zed board questions, please use the Zed board website:

Re: Getting error "unrecognized jedec id fffff"

Getting jedec ID "ffffff" usually means that the SPI communication is not working at all (i.e. the chip is not powered, there's no physical connection, the pinmuxing is not complete, or the chip selects are incorrect). It means that the SPI driver itself is returning data, so you typically have to search for connection issues.

Hi Scholar,

  Thanks for the reply, On the below descrption if the Flash device is having reset#/SIO3 in memory how the pin assignment is done should we pull up RESET Pin. I am using MX25L12833F.

I have attached the datasheet FYR
