Kernel driver loading fails in Petalinux 2017.1

Hello,

I have developed a driver for a device in Petalinux 2016.4 for ZCU102 (the driver works well).

I should use Petalinux 2017.1, but when I attempt to load the kernel module I got this error

"driver_name: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel."

And the driver isn't loaded correctly.

Do you have any ideas to solve this problem?

Thanks and Regards,

Ramon

@ramon_rig

Hi Ramon,

I am so sorry, I do not have a solution.

But may I know how you added your custom driver in petalinux 2016.4?

I am using it and have my driver module created. But when i boot using SD card I do not see the driver being loaded. Could you please suggest me the steps? Since 2016.4 is yocto based i guess there is a lot difference as to how to add custom modules.

Thanks,

Karthik

What do you mean my not loaded correctly?   This message usually does not mean there is a problem with the module just that it was built outside the kernel tree.

Re: Kernel driver loading fails in Petalinux 2017.1

Hello,

I use an axi_quad_spi to communicate with the device, and probably I changed the DTS file (DTS are different between 2016.4 and 2017.1) in the wrong way.

Thanks for the reply.

Ramon
