Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC: ZCU106 REVA BSP fails booting Linux fully from qspi and kernel cannot mount the partitions from memory sd0

Hello All,

I am using zynqmp zcu106 REVA board and I can boot from "SD card" but I got an issue with eMMc not booting fully. I got kernel panic when it starts mounting the partitions.

I have attached the output and the necessary files that might help for better understanding.

I noticed when I change the group in devicetree for the sdhci0 to "sdio0_2_grp" it will try to force booting always from mmc1 whether I switch it to "sd card" mode or "qspi" mode which suppose to be for mmc0 not mmc1. If I use any other different group then it works fine for mmc0 but still I cannot boot fully from eMMc only from SD card.

It might be the kernel not looking to the correct path. Also it looks like the mmc1 when it's enabled it starts blocking the mmc0 I am not really sure. I have more examples in the attached folder in consol_output.

Is there any clue or idea why not mounting the partitions in eMMc.

HI @mansour 

 

Looks you are using the wrong bootargs. I can see from logs that you are using below bootargs.

Kernel command line: console=ttyPS0,115200 rw earlyprintk root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootfstype=ext4

If you are using the ext4 filesystem then  your filesystem partition should have formatted with ext4 fs type, but where mmcblk0p1 is formatted with FAT32 file system type.

If your  rootfs present in your sdcard card 2nd partition then change the bootargs like below from u-boot.

setenv bootargs 'console=ttyPS0, root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootfstype=ext4 rootwait 115200'

Hi @aravindb 

I have tried (setenv bootargs 'console=ttyPS0, root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootfstype=ext4 rootwait 115200'). this works fine with sd card but when I switch to qspi mode I still cannot mount it. still showing the same things.
