Re: kernel for ml405

At Xilinx we test using ELDK 4.1 tools for uclibc.

We run the latest kernel from our tree at git://git.xilinx.com/linux-2.6-xlnx which is 2.6.29, but we have ran many other released versions over the past year.

Thanks,

John

Re: kernel for ml405

We only run simple tests to verify the kernel configures, builds, boots using an NFS mount over ethernet right now.

Re: kernel for ml405

which edk do you use?

are you able to produce DTS file?

is there DTS file the only one file that the latest xilinx kernel needs?

thanks for your answers :)

Re: kernel for ml405

I have typically used EDK 10.1.X the most.  Old EDKs might be an issue for some old h/w designs that used bridges since the h/w designs have changed.

We do produce DTS files using the device-tree from the git repository.

The kernel only needs the dts file to understand what h/w it is running on.  We provide the arch/powerpc/boot/dts/virtex405-ml405.dts file in the tree for our reference design.

Thanks,

John

Re: kernel for ml405

Thank you.

In case you using i2c core and emac core, those should be shown in DTS file?

Re: kernel for ml405

Yes they should be shown in the DTS file if you are expecting the kernel to find a driver for them.  The DTS file is what configures the kernel at boot time.
