uClinux on the Microblaze processor

I have worked in trying to carry the uClinux in Microblaze. I do the necessary configurations of Xilinx EDK, configure the kernel (make xconfig, make dep) and when I try to accomplish the last stage of the compilation (make) a mistake occurs.

BOARD: Virtex II FF896 Multimedia Development Board

   LINUX DISTRIBUTION: uClinux (http://www.uclinux.org/pub/uClinux/dist/uClinux-dist-20041215.tar.gz)

   KERNEL: Linux 2.4

TOOLCHAIN: uClibc - microblaze elf tools (http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~jwilliams/mblaze-uclinux/Toolchain/_files/microblaze-elf-tools-20050308.tar.gz)

   ERROR IN COMPILATION: ~ / microblaze-tools/bin/mb-ld.
real: can not find-lcrypt_old

If possible, I wish that you help me.

                                                    Thank you,

Re: uClinux on the Microblaze processor

Hi,

Unfortunatelly I don't know exactly what's wrong with the toolchain.

However the error you are encountering  is made by md-ld which tells us it's the linker problem.

He tells that he cannot find -lcrypt_old which means that he cannot find libcrypt_old*.a or libcrypt_old*.so file during linking (*.a for static library; *.so for shared object - dynamic library).

My suggestion is to check if there is such file somewhere. If it is then just add -L/directory_where_that_file_is to your toolchain or modify LD_PATH environment.

If it's not then you can try to link (command: ln -s) some existing crypt library and have a hope that nothing significant was changed there.

Greetings, Mariusz.

Re: uClinux on the Microblaze processor

Why not try petaLinux? http://www.petalogix.com/

It's built by the same professor John Williams. But seems more updated.

I tried the stable version and it works.
