SD Card Detect

Jump to solution

Hi,

I have designed a board with a Zynq XC7Z035 and SD Card reader.  I am using MIO40 thru MIO45 for the SD Card clk, cmd and data.  However, the CARD DETECT is going to MIO27.  It's not clear to me from the MIO AT A GLANCE table in UG585 what MIO pins are valid for the card detect.  I am also reading elsewhere that MIO0 must be pulled down or the Zynq won't boot from the SD card.

If anyone has experience with this, I would very much appreciate some feedback.

Thanks,
Dan

you can use any unused MIO pin for CD or WP. Basically, if you select an incorrect pin, you won't pass "validate design" in Vivado IP Integrator.

Card Detect (CDn) & Write Protect (WPn) pins are usually pulled to GND when a card is detected and the card is write-enabled (In normal operation).
Please check
https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/61064.html or “13.3.7 Supported Configurations” of ug585

CDn must be Low was for ES silicon, Production doesn’t have this limitation. BootRom doesn’t check the state of CDn during boot

Hi,

I'm still a little confused.  I'm using MIO40 thru MIO45 to interface to my SD card.  According to the table below, would I use MIO46 and MIO47 for CD and WP?

Thanks,

Dan
