SGMII clock not connecting

Jump to solution

I am trying to use the SGMII interface on the KC705 board with the supplied block design but am having nothing but problems.

The microblaze is working and the serial port is coming up and transmitting to a terminal, but I get no LED status lights on the RJ45 jack.  Looking a little closer at the elaborated design, it is showing no-connects.  Well that would certainly explain a lot.....

Here is what it looks like

And here is the block design setup

Anyone know why this is happening?  The tools are the ones that added in the sgmii_clk (and the other two lines), so why isn't it making the connection?

OK, I got it working.  I needed to modify the very upper wrapper mb_preset_wrapper.vhd.  I added in the following signals in numerous places

    sgmii_mgt_clk_clk_n : in STD_LOGIC;
    sgmii_mgt_clk_clk_p : in STD_LOGIC;
    sgmii_rxn : in STD_LOGIC;
    sgmii_rxp : in STD_LOGIC;
    sgmii_txn : out STD_LOGIC;
    sgmii_txp : out STD_LOGIC;

I then needed to delete and regenerate the HDL wrapper.

That then worked great.
