Max current available on the FMC - KCU105 evaluation board

Hi,

After having read the entire documentation for the kcu105 eval board, it is not clear what are the supply (and mainly the assoicated current) that we can draw from the two FMC connectors). As for example the VADJ voltage is shared to supply both the eval board and to the connector. We knwo that this supply can deliver 10A per datasheet, but how much is actually taken by the eval board itself and how much is left to the FMC connectors? same for the 3V3_Util and for the 12V

In other words, does the board is respecting the FMC VITA standard (1A on the 12V, 3A on the 3V3, 4A n the VADJ.

Thanks, Nicolas

Re: Max current available on the FMC - KCU105 evaluation board

The board is FMC vita spec compliant. If you have access to the spec we will at least meet the minimum requirement. Below are a couple links. The bottom one shows the spec for lpc.

Re: Max current available on the FMC - KCU105 evaluation board

You say that the board is FMC vita spec compliant, but already VADJ in VITA 57 is speced up to 3.3V. But in the datasheet of the board it is mentioned that VADJ is up to 1.8V max... So clearly there is mistmatched with some VITA FMC specs.

For this board do you have the following table that you did for another board family ? (that will be nice to add it to the datasheet): https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/38436.html

Re: Max current available on the FMC - KCU105 evaluation board

That table is straight from the VITA 57.1 FMC standard, and is not Xilinx board specific.  This table is for the LPC header, regardless of what board it is on.

Do you have that same table for the HPC connector? thanks

Re: Max current available on the FMC - KCU105 evaluation board

I am not sure to understand your comment: is this table (https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/38436.html) the maximum current capability of the connector can sustain for the specified power pins? or are those value the current that we can effectively draw from the PMICs/power supplies available in the KCU105 eval board and connected to the two FMCs ?

Re: Max current available on the FMC - KCU105 evaluation board

According to the FMC spec, carrier cards should be able to provide for maximum current for each supply as defined in that table, for the LPC header.  There is a similar table for the HPC header, which is given in UG534, Table 1-29.  Both of these tables are from the VITA FMC 57.1 spec, and we would recommend if you are designing with FMC that you purchase the FMC spec from the VITA website.
