Re: Platform Cable USB II Stopped Working

Jump to solution

Platform Cable USB II was working couple of weeks ago. Now it's not working. I tried a second Platform Cable USB II, but it's not working. Basically, Status LED does not come on.

USB Device status on the laptop says "Eject Xilinx Platform Cable USB II Firmware loader".

I reinstalled the lab tools again, but it did not help.

Please help !

Thanks,
Raju

Hi @raju_vqi,

What version of the Xilinx SW are you using?

What OS are you using?

Have you installed a new version of the SW in the last couple of weeks?

Can you please provide the log for a failed connection and also the install log file.

With the cable plugged in, in the machines Device Manager, do you see the cable and also Jungo – WinDriver?

You could try manually installing the cable drivers using the below.

You could need to open the Vivado TCL Shell for required version, as an Administrator.

Then navigate to install directory, similar to the following for LabTools: C:\Xilinx\Vivado_Lab\2017.3\data\xicom\cable_drivers\nt64.

You can then run the install_drivers_wrappper.bat to install all cable drivers.

Be sure to look out for pop-ups and ensure the cable is disconnected when installing the cable drivers.

Thanks,
Wendy

Hi,

I tried Vivado 2016.2, 2017.2.1, 2017.3 same result - LED is off.

OS: Window's 10 Home.

I installed 2017.2.1 in the last 2 weeks.

Tried 2 different Platform Cable USB II, same result - LED is off.

I reinstalled labtools for 2017.2.1 again, same result - LED if off.

Somewhere in the forum, it said download new windriver from Jungo, did that, same result - LED is off.

So I tried it on a different laptop, both Platform Cable USB II had LED on (Amber without FPGA connection, Green with FPGA connection). So both Platform Cable USB II's and all cables are fine. The issue is with driver(s) and/or software.

The firmware loader is not finding correct firmware?

Even after reinstalling labtools, same issue - LED is off.

Thanks,
Raju

Hello,

The issue seen with multiple boards, KCU105 as well as a board from HiTech Global. The Amber LED should come up without connecting to any board. But Amber LED does not come up. As I said before the firmware loader is not able to load the firmware.

Thanks,
Raju

Hi @raju_vqi,

Thanks for the information so far.

In the screenshot attached, can you check whether you see what is highlighted in the Device Manager of your machine?

 Device_Manager.jpg

Can you try the following and let me know the results:

  • In the device manager, if you see anything related to Jungo, please right click on it choose to “Uninstall”. You should receive a pop-up of confirmation and ensure you tick the box if it says to “Delete the driver software for this device.”
  • If you see “Xilinx USB Cable”, also right click on this and Uninstall. Again ensure you tick the box if it says to “Delete the driver software for this device.” I’m guessing you might actually see “Xilinx Platform Cable USB II Firmware Loader”. If that is the case also try to Uninstall.
  • Ensure that the cable is disconnected from the machine.
  • Open a cmd prompt as an Administrator
  • Then navigate to install directory, similar to the following for LabTools: C:\Xilinx\Vivado_Lab\2017.3\data\xicom\cable_drivers\nt64\dlc10_win7.
  • Run the following commands

wdreg -compat -inf %cd%\windrvr6.inf uninstall

wdreg -compat -inf %cd%\xusbdrvr.inf uninstall

wdreg -compat -inf %cd%\windrvr6.inf install

wdreg -compat -inf %cd%\xusbdrvr.inf install

  • After completed, connect the cable to the machine and attempt to connect to a board again.
  • If you see any issues with any of the steps above, please post your logs.

Looking forward to hearing the outcome.

Thanks,
Wendy

I encountered the same issue. The "dlc10_win7" folder does not exist in that path. The windrvr6.inf is located directly in the nt64 folder. Try it without the dlc10_win7 folder

I think it will be better to use BlueTooth or wifi as USB ports seem problematic nowadays. You will get more information from my Facebook page.
