Common error 17-345. Can't find Webpack License for Vivado version 14.4 (32-bit).

Jump to solution

I have a 32-bit laptop, Windows 7, that I want to use with my Basys 3 board.

I've installed version 14.4 of vivado because I read that it's the last version that supports 32-bit windows OS.

I downloaded a license file:

When I try to synthesize my design I get:

Resolution: Check the status of your licenses in the Vivado License Manager. For debug help search Xilinx Support for "Licensing FAQ".

Do I have the wrong license file?  I couldn't find one on the website that specifically said Webpack.

According to the documentation, my device is supported by Vivado 14.x.

Thank you.

Bill

Hello @mackinfam,

First of all, you are targeting  'xc7a35t' device, which is NOT a supported by ISE WebPACK license.

This device is a Vivado WebPACK supported device, but not with ISE weback.

ISE WebPACK list can be seen in this doc:

https://www.xilinx.com/publications/matrix/Software_matrix.pdf

As you can see, only xc7a100t and xc7a200t are supported with ISE WebPACK

Therefore, in order to be able to use ISE 14.4 on this Windows 32-bit OS, you'd need a full ISE Edition license.

Alternatively, you can find one of the supported by Vivado Operating System and install Vivado 2018.2 on it and then, you wouldn't need any licenses to target this 'xc7a35t' device in your design, as this 'xc7a35t' device is a WebPack device that became  supported by Vivado from 2013.4 and newer versions of Vivado releases.

Also note, if you decide to install an older version of Vivado (e.g. any 2013.4), then you'd need to obtain a free Vivado WebPACK license from the Xilinx Downloads page.

However, from 2016.x and newer versions of Vivado, when targeting any Vivado WebPACK supported devices in your design, you are no longer needed to obtain a Vivado WebPACK license for this. It's handled now by the tool to not checkout device license for webpack devices. There is actually no physical license anywhere when you install Vivado 2016.1 and newer releases.

Anyhow, I hope the above is clear. If you have any further questions for us, please let us know and we will be glad to help you further then.

Kind Regards,

This is not a Vivado WebPACK license. It enables SDK tool.

Please ensure you selected vivado webpack during installation edition selection.

Vivado 2015.x and earlier requires a certificate based WebPACK license.

To access a WebPACK license (for 2015.x and prior versions), run the Vivado License Manager (VLM) for Vivado.

This link was the first document that clearly tells which devices are supported by the different versions of software.  Thanks for the link.
