Spartan-6 Connectivity Kit / Northwest Logic IP license

Jump to solution

I have a license issue with an old Spartan-6 project with a Northwest Logic (NWL) DMA IP core in it. The IP core encrypted netlist came from the Spartan-6 Connectivity Kit I believe. UG665 says user needs to obtain the NWL IP core license from Xilinx. Since I am not the original owner of the project I don't have the license nor I know the way to re-generate the license.

In this case what should I do to get the license? Whom should I contact to get it resolved. I appreciate any pointers.

thanks,

Simon

Hello @simon_tam_gmail ,

Please check this AR: https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/62804.html

Here you can read that the Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA Connectivity Kit is shipped with a Full Production license for the Northwest Logic PCIe DMA IP.
This full production license allows the customer to use this NWL IP for evaluation, development, and deployment in production for all their Spartan-6 based designs.

And as per UG665, you can read that the kit comes with a licenses for the Northwest Logic x1 PCIe Packet DMA IP Core for Spartan-6 LXT FPGAs (node-locked license), i.e.

More info can be found here: https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/38167.html

So, if you are missing this license, to get this entitlements back, please raise an Electronic Fulfillment SR with Xilinx Customer Service team (by logging in to https://www.xilinx.com/support.html#serviceportal -> LICENSING), asking them to locate and to add this license to your account. They will then be able re-add these back to your profile. However, i believe you may need a purchased order (PO) of your Spartan-6 FPGA Connectivity Kit purchase, so if this kit has been given to you from someone else, and the PO number isn't available, this may get a bit compilated to re-alocate this license and to add to you then. However, the first step is to contact Xilinx Customer Service team to re-alocate/find this license and they will provide you with instruction on how to proceed further.

BTW, SR# 10512556 that you've mentioned isn't closed and is still opened and Xilinx Customer Service team is working on this issue. Please work with them and they should be able to assist further on this issue.

Hope the above is clear. If you need any further clarification from my side, please let me know.

Kind Regards,
Anatoli Curran,
Xilinx Technical Support

Hi Devin,

I already contacted Avnet. But they could not help me. They referred me to this forum for help. I just created an inquiry under "Contact a Xilinx Sales Representative". Please help if there is any way you can expedite.

Thanks,

Simon

Hi Devin,

I went to the service portal and created a case (SR# 10512556). But it rejected and pointed me back to this forum. Can you clarify what next step I should take?

thanks,

Simon

Hi Anatoli,

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately my situation is exactly what you described. I took over an existing project which does not include the license nor the kit provided. In any case someone from Customer Service is now helping me to locate the PO.  Hope something good will come up.

thanks,

Simon
