floating license install problem

I believe I have follwed the floating license installation instructions in: http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/5332.html

however, when  I launch ISE I get an error saying "a license was not found for the 'ISE' feature."  XLCM gets launched to help find the license.

Attached are screen grabs of what I see when XLCM is started after not finding the floating license on pcthw-PC and

what I see when I start the license manager. I think it means that it is running

I believe that I should be able to install the tools on any machine and point to the machine that is running the license

server (and has the license file on it) and run the tools.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

Re: floating license install problem

Hi,

Please attach your xinfo file.
Start --> All Programs --> Xilinx Design Tools --> ISE Design suite 14.x --> Accessories --> Xinfo system Checker.

This will geneate xinfo file. Please attach here.

Re: floating license install problem NOW _PN.EXE stopped running.

update: I ran lmtools and saw that the license manager had stopped running for some reason.

I opened a xilinx DOS window and ran lmgrd.  This opened 2 other windows, but when I went

back to the client and clicked "Set" for the XILIXD_LICENSE_FILE, it picked up the floating licenses.

My new problem is that while the orignal error message is gone, I am unable to open or

create a project.  I get an error that says _pn.exe stopped running.  I'll start a new thread for this.

Re: floating license install problem

It should be attached.  I think I found the problem, but I am still not able to open or create a project,

should I start a new thread for that?

Re: floating license install problem

Hi,

One of our customer resolved this issue and uploaded a nice video with workaround.

See this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttPbEcNjdo8

P.S: Windows 8 is not supported by Xilinx Tools.

Thanks
