Ultrascale+ DDR4 Max VCO override

I am trying to see what the fastest DDR4 speed can be achieved. How do I override the maximum VCO to achieve greater speeds than 1600Mhz?

回复: Ultrascale+ DDR4 Max VCO override

Please refer to the datasheet to check the maximum data rate of the memory interface. It depends on your device speed, package and your memory part.

Re: Ultrascale+ DDR4 Max VCO override

Hello @raiden017 ,

Please refer to the following datasheet.

-DS923 : Virtex UltraScale+, page.23, Table 27.

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/data_sheets/ds923-virtex-ultrascale-plus.pdf

-DS922 : KLintex UltraScale+, page.20, Table 27.

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/data_sheets/ds922-kintex-ultrascale-plus.pdf

It depends on the FPGA, Speed Grade and Memory, so please check the Table 27.

Best regards,

Re: Ultrascale+ DDR4 Max VCO override

Thanks for the replies, I have seen the spec sheet and the VCO max is listed as 1600Mhz.

I am able to successfully run my memory at DDR 3000 which is above what the spec sheet has listed for memory speeds and within the VCO range as it runs at 1500Mhz.

I am trying to ascertain where the constraint of the VCO is derived from. Is the max VCO constraint located in the DDR4 IP or is it at the device level for example for the VU9P.

Thanks

Re: Ultrascale+ DDR4 Max VCO override

Hello @raiden017 ,

Xilinx does not evaluate over spec as you mentioned 1500MHz(3000Mbps).

We would appreciate your understanding.
