IDELAYE2 IDATAIN pin cannot be left open!!

Jump to solution

Observing below error for AXI 1G/2.5G Ethernet Subsystem IP

[DRC REQP-83] IDATAIN_connected: block_diagram_wrapper_inst/rib_bd_i/axi_ethernet_1/U0/mac/U0/tri_mode_ethernet_mac_i/gmii_interface/delay_gmii_rx_er: For DELAY_SRC IDATAIN programming the IDATAIN input pin of IDELAYE2 must be connected.

The same project was running in vivado 14.4 where "gmii_rtl_rx_er" was set to '0'. After upgrading(to vivado 17.4) when this port is connected then the error is gone.

Have attached a screenshot of the ethernet ip configuration.

So why in vivado 17.4 the pin needs to be connected?

Hi @joe265

We are talking about a very old version of Vivado as compared to an aging one.

The message is effectively saying:

You've told the IDELAY to delay an signal coming from the IO IBUF but not connected anything to it.

This won't go away.

It needs to have the GMII connected.
