LogiCORE IP AXI IIC (I2C)

Hello,

I want to use the "LogiCORE IP AXI IIC Bus Interface" for interfacing some I2C-devices (DDS, etc.).

I did have a look into the AC701-design which uses a "PCA9548ARGER" for multiplexing the I2C to different devices from the FPGA.

Is this really "necessary" or would it be sufficient to use an I2C-transceiver device which "convertes" resp. "conditions" the FPGA-signals to the I2C-side and which allows to drive the different I2C-devices?

For me it is not clear, what would be the benefit of using the "PCA9548ARGER" instead of e.g.: an JLC1563 (I2C buffer)?

Thanks,

BR Bodo

Hi, zofre

I don't know what's the purpose of "PCA9548ARGER" in the AC701.

But I can share a similar case with you.

My customer used this IP in the previous V5FXT project, they connect FPGA to I2C component directly, it works properly.
