AXI Bridge for Xilinx PCIE Gen3 issues duplicate write responses

I have a simulation where the AXI Bridge for the Xilinx PCIE Gen3 core issues two write responses for the same AXI ID when only one write request is issued for same AXI ID. Also, in the same simulation it appears as if another AXI ID never receives a write response, so it is as if the duplicate write response is issued instead of the proper write response. I am observing the same issue in the actual hardware (XC7V980T). I can reproduce this issue fairly easily by flooding the AXI Bridge for PCIE core with write requests of random length. I am using 5-bit AXI ID width, so I can have up to 32 IDs outstanding. From the documentation, it appears that the core can only have 8 requests in its pipeline. The issue appears to occur when the core accepts one too many write requests, possibly overflowing its pipeline. One note - when I request only aligned transactions of 256-bytes (this is my max request size), then I don't see this issue. So, it seems to have something to do with the random length request. Attached is a Questa waveform file showing this issue. The write request is issued on the s_axi_aw* interface at 112553 ns. The first response returns just two cycles later on the s_axi_b* at 112561 ns. The second response occurs just before the end of the simulation at 112833 ns. Note that it appears that the AXI IDs are returned in the order that they were issued, except for the first response noted above (at 112553 ns where ID 0xa is returned instead of 0x2).

Would it be possible to get your XCI and Address mapping (if using IPI)?   We will be looking at the waveform, and want to ensure we match the settings against reproducing the issue.

It won't let me attach the XCI file.  I get the following error:

 

"The attachment's v7_axi_pcie3.xci content type (text/plain) does not match its file extension and has been removed."

 

 

Also, I don't understand the question regarding address mapping and IPI - would you please elaborate?

From your XCI it looks like you are using the 2016.1 version of the core (v2.1).  We have reviewed your trace against the bridge code and it looks like the code in that area has been updated since then.   We would request that you try the 2016.3 version or later and see if you hit this issue in that code version.

I updated the core to 2016.4 version and this appears to solve the issue in simulation.  We are currently building new bitstreams to confirm that the core update also fixes the hardware.
