PCIe Vendor and Device ID usage

Jump to solution

Hello,

I read in some other posts the Vendor ID cannot change which is fine for me.

Are there any rules for what the Device ID can be? Can this just be any number you assign. My application is for a reference design so our customers will probably do something else with the number but for the reference design project we provide to our customers can it just be any random number we choose?

Thanks

Hi @wmsoto

You can use temporary numbers - just be aware that anything you pick may be used in a different Xilinx project and there may be associated drivers that could attach.

Each vendor has some device id's allocated. You can find them at the link below. Please check the details related to your company.

My question is can I just assign a device ID for our use with the preassigned Xilinx Vendor ID or does this require PCI org registration which would mean getting a vendor ID as well. We are making a customer reference design board so do we need to do anything or can we use temporary numbers.

Thanks
