Microblaze configuration and execution time

Jump to solution

first, i'm sorry for my english!

i made different configurations of microblaze( on-chip memory(8,16,32,64 KB), cache enabled/disabled....), i should test and compare these different configurations... but i don't know where i will find the values of the "execution time" or "end time of the timer" ... how can i said: "this configuration is better than this ...???

i take a loock in the "system.log" file!!!

Writing NGCBUILD log file "../rs232_wrapper.blc"...

NGCBUILD done.

Rebuilding cache ...

Total run time: 156.00 seconds

Running synthesis...
bash -c "cd synthesis; ./synthesis.sh"

is this what i look for??!!! can you explain to me how can i compare tow different configuration of a system? performance of a system will be based on what??

Thank you for your consideration!

Adel.

yes you can do it using ISE software

ie. you need to have ISE simulator full version so that you can actually calculate simulation timing analysis.

other way is using EDK software itself and option of Virtual Platform generation.

But if you are using EDK 10.1 or later then support for PLB v4.6 is not given in virtual platform genreation

you can do it in EDK 8.2 version.

thanks and regards

as per your system understanding you will have to take into consideration

a common executable written in c and with that files execution on different configurations and

using Modelsim simulation you can actually monitor all the parameters of the system.

use Modelsim and generate libraries by compiling the files

and by observing the simulation waveform actually you can conclude. the comparison.

thanks for your reply!

i will test that!

i'm using EDK 10.1..but... any way... i will try with  ISE simulator or Virtuel Platform generation, as you said!
