TEMAC packet format

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am using TEMAC with the NetFPGA platform (http://www.netfpga.org), and I would like to inject a network-layer packet into the datapath at the MAC end.

However, I am not sure what format data TEMAC accepts, and the documentation is sparse on this topic.  Must I include a MAC header, or does TEMAC add this for me?

Thanks

You meed to provide the MAC header.  The TEMAC will append the FCS (CRC).

Thanks for the reply.

Does the packet need to include a few bytes for the FCS that the TEMAC fills in, or will TEMAC insert it?

You don't need to provide the FCS bytes or any "room" for them.  The TEMAC appends it to the frame automatically.
