ZYNQ ARM Processor as JTAG master

Jump to solution

Hi,

I have special application where i would like to update a few CPLDS (probably Coolrunner 2) with an Zynq XC7Z010 FPGA.
I would like to use petalinux to program the CPLDs (these are daisy chained).
Sadly i found no prebuilt solution, so i decided to built my own JTAG Master.
My question is, if there are any Datasheets about the Jtag interface ( Specification and Protocoll)?

Additionally have i understood it right, that i only have to write out the xsvf file to CPLD?

Thx in advance

A good starting point would be here:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp058.pdf

You an then host your svf player on the cortex a53 in Linux, and have a axi2jtag IP in the PL, similar to below:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp1251-xvc-zynq-petalinux.pdf
